How Mail In Longarm Quilting Works

You create the quilt top. We'll help you bring it one step closer to finished.

1

Complete your order and payment

Complete our secure online order form one step at a time. Enter your contact information, quilt-top and backing measurements, upload optional photos, and choose your thread color and quilting pattern. Add your order details and return-shipping address, then review your selections and price. Confirm that the quilt top is machine sewn, accept our Terms of Service, and pay the full order total securely through Stripe.

2

Prepare your quilt top

Proper preparation helps us produce the best possible result. Press the quilt top so it lies as smooth and flat as possible. Trim loose threads from the front and back. Check the quilt top for loose or open seams and repair them. Remove pins and loose embellishments. Do not baste or attach the quilt top to the batting or backing.

3

Prepare your backing fabric

Press the backing fabric, trim loose threads, and make sure any pieced seams are secure. The backing must be at least 8 inches wider than the quilt top, providing approximately 4 extra inches on each side, and 10 inches longer than the quilt top, providing approximately 5 extra inches at the top and bottom.

4

Pack your quilt carefully

Fold the quilt top and backing neatly. Place them inside a clean, securely sealed plastic bag to help protect them from moisture during shipping. Include your name and order number inside the package. Place the sealed bag in a sturdy shipping box and securely tape every opening.

5

Ship your quilt to us

Ship your package to the address provided in your order confirmation. You are responsible for the cost of shipping your quilt to Online Quilting Studio. Choose a shipping service with tracking and purchase any inbound insurance you believe is appropriate for your quilt. Keep your shipping receipt and tracking number until we confirm that your package has arrived.

6

We receive and inspect your quilt

We'll notify you when your quilt arrives. We will inspect the quilt top and backing, confirm the measurements, and review your pattern and thread selections. We may photograph the quilt for condition records, order documentation, and private customer updates. We will not use photographs publicly without your optional permission.

7

We quilt your project

We'll notify you when quilting begins and your quilt is loaded onto the longarm machine. We will complete the selected edge-to-edge pattern using your chosen thread color, then carefully inspect the finished quilting before preparing your project for its return trip.

8

We return your quilted project

After the edge-to-edge longarm quilting is complete, we'll carefully package your quilt for its return trip. Return shipping is included when the quilting price is $100 or more. If the quilting price is under $100, a $20 return-shipping charge is added to the order total during checkout. We'll send your shipping confirmation and tracking number so you can follow the package home.

9

Tell us what you think

After your quilted project arrives, we'll follow up to confirm that you received it and ask how you like the longarm quilting. We may invite you to leave an honest Google review. We may also ask whether you would like to give us permission to share photographs of your quilt in our website gallery, social media, advertising, or promotional materials.
